Mumbai Horror: 13-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped by Man Met on Social Media

Mumbai: A 13-year-old girl in Mumbai was reportedly raped by a 21-year-old man she met on social media, according to police reports. The Vakola Police Station has charged the suspect with kidnapping and rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The man was apprehended in Goregaon, where he resides.

Police investigations revealed that the accused, who works in a hotel, and the victim had communicated online before deciding to meet in person. He allegedly took her to a location in Andheri, where he assaulted her. On August 15, he transported her to Gujarat under the pretense of taking her to a village, where he reportedly raped her three additional times.

Concerned about her prolonged absence, the girl’s family began searching for her after she failed to return home on August 15. Days later, she returned home but remained silent about her experiences. When pressed by her family, she disclosed the details of her ordeal.

Using photographs from the suspect’s Instagram account, the family identified him and reported the case to local authorities.
